The Edmonton Elks have signed linebacker Nyles Morgan to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2024.
The six-foot-one, 235-pound defender played just six games in 2022 due to injury but registered 41 defensive tackles, a special teams tackle and a forced fumble. He led all CFL players with an average of 6.83 defensive tackles per game.
Morgan joined the Elks ahead of the 2021 season, leading the Green and Gold with 66 defensive tackles. He was a unanimous selection as the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie that season.
A product of the University of Notre Dame, Morgan played 44 games over four seasons in South Bend. He posted 243 career tackles and six sacks, earning Defensive Newcomer of the Year accolades as a freshman in 2014.
After going unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft, Morgan spent time with the XFL’s Seattle Dragons and the Jousters of The Spring League before joining the Elks.
