The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian fullback Régis Cibasu to a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Tuesday.

The six-foot-two, 233-pounder caught two passes for eight yards and made four special teams tackles over 17 regular season games. He took snaps at fullback as well as receiver, which was his position at the Université de Montreal when he played for the Carabins under Danny Maciocia.

“Régis is a true team player, who accepted to see his role change during the season, all while devoting himself entirely to the team,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “He does the small things that aren’t always visible. We know what he brings to the table and are happy to count on him for the 2023 season.”

The 29-year-old was originally a third-round pick of the Toronto Argonauts in the 2018 CFL Draft. He played two seasons with the team before signing with the Alouettes as a free agent.

The Alouettes have also signed four American defender, including defensive lineman Natrez Patrick, linebackers Jaylan Alexander and Bryce Notree, and defensive back Jeremy Webb.

Patrick made five tackles with the Los Angeles Rams during the 2019 and 2020 NFL seasons. The six-foot-three, 242-pound defender from Atlanta, Ga. played collegiately with the Georgia University Bulldogs where he was a starter for four seasons and made 160 tackles and two sacks over 44 games at linebacker.

Alexander took part in rookie minicamp with the Chicago Bears in 2022 after going unselected in the NFL draft coming out of Purdue. The six-foot-one, 240-pound tackler made 226 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one sack with the Boilermakers.

Notree played four seasons for the Southern Illinois University Huskies with whom he registered 246 tackles, 6.5 sacks, four interceptions, and nine pass knockdowns over 26 games. The 24-year-old was signed by the Washington Commanders this past year but was released following training camp.

Webb has tremendous size for a CFL defensive back, checking in at six-foot-four and 205 pounds. The 26-year-old played at Kansas in 2021 and made 31 tackles and two pass knockdowns over 10 games. He participated in rookie minicamp with the New Orleans Saints this past year.
