The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat to a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Monday. He was scheduled to become a free agent on Feb. 14.

The six-foot-three, 243-pound defender made 20 tackles, four sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery this past season over 12 games. He also made two sacks and one forced fumble during the club’s playoff run that culminated in a loss to the Toronto Argonauts in the 109th Grey Cup in Regina.

The 32-year-old had a career year in 2021, racking up a career-best nine quarterback sacks along with 26 tackles, four forced fumbles, and two pass knockdowns. He was named a CFL all-star for the first time in his career.

The native of Dallas, Texas has made 126 tackles, 30 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and two interceptions over 65 career regular season games since joining the Blue Bombers in 2017.
