The Montreal Alouettes have signed pint-sized American receiver Tyler Snead to a contract.
The five-foot-seven, 174-pound pass catcher played four seasons at East Carolina University, dressing for 27 career games. He hauled in 201 receptions for 2,385 yards and 18 touchdowns over that span, adding another major along the ground and three touchdown passes. He also returned 60 kicks for 1,268 yards, taking two returns all the way to the house.
Snead’s best season came as a senior in 2021, when he amassed 67 catches for 860 yards and four touchdowns. He was twice named to a second-team All-American Athletic Conference honouree as a receiver and returner.
The native of Raleigh, North Carolina signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2022 season. He played in three preseason games with the team, recording five receptions for 27 yards and one touchdown, but was released as part of final roster cuts.
