The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive lineman Jake Ceresna to a two-year contract extension, the club announced on Wednesday. He was scheduled to become a free agent in February.
The 28-year-old made 31 tackles, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles this past season depite dressing for only 12 games. He was named a CFL all-star for the first time in his career.
Ceresna has played 57 career games as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks and Elks, recording 115 tackles, 25 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
The six-foot-five, 295-pound defender was signed by the New York Giants in 2019 and took part in training camp with the club but was released following its conclusion. He was selected in the 2020 XFL Draft but elected to return to the CFL, signing back with Edmonton.
Ceresna was recently named 3DownNation‘s No. 3-ranked pending CFL free agent.
