The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed former B.C. Lions defensive back Austin Joyner.

The five-foot-eleven, 200-pound defender last played during the 2021 season, starting five games at strongside linebacker and making 18 tackles. The 25-year-old was a surprise cut ahead of training camp in 2022 and did not play last year. He spent part of the 2020 season with the Alphas of The Spring League.

Prior to his time in the CFL, Joyner played 29 games over four seasons (2015-2018) at the University of Washington. He recorded 67 tackles for the Huskies, adding six tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, three pass knockdowns, and one fumble recovery. The Marysville, Washington native also returned eight kicks for 98 yards.
