The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have hired former CFL linebacker Marcellus Bowman as the team’s strength and conditioning coach, the club announced on Wednesday.
The six-foot-three, 231-pounder played 57 games over five seasons in the CFL as a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2010-12) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2013-14). He recorded 216 total tackles, nine sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. The Boston College product had previously been a member of the Denver Broncos.
“I had the opportunity to coach Marcellus when he was playing, and he is exactly the type of person we want in the Tiger-Cats organization. He is outstanding at his profession and will provide significant value,” said head coach and president of football operations Orlondo Steinauer in a statement. “We are excited to welcome him and his family back to Hamilton.”
The 36-year-old most recently served as the assistant director of football performance at the University of Central Florida (2019-20). He previously spent two seasons as the strength and conditioning coach at the University of Auburn (2017-18).
