The Toronto Argonauts have added American Aaron Parker to their receiving corps.

The 24-year-old began his professional career as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 and spent that season on the practice roster, before being released amidst final roster cuts the following year. Parker then joined the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, receiving a call-up for one game in 2021. Most recently, he spent training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs but did not make the final roster.

Originally recruited to play linebacker, the six-foot-two, 210-pound Parker blossomed into a dangerous receiver over four seasons at the University of Rhode Island. As a senior in 2019, he caught 81 passes for 1,224 yards and nine touchdowns to earn second-team FCS All-American honours from the Associated Press. That impressive campaign translated into an invite to the NFL Combine, where he clocked a 4.57-second 40-yard dash.

In 44 career collegiate games, Parker caught 216 passes for 3,443 yards and 30 touchdowns. He was twice named first-team All-Conference.
