Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker worked out for the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday, per source.
The six-foot-four, 205-pound target made 68 receptions for 960 yards and five touchdowns this past season over 18 starts at wide receiver and slotback. He led the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns and was the second-most productive Canadian receiver league-wide behind only Kurleigh Gittens Jr. of the Toronto Argonauts.
The native of Mississauga, Ont. was a fourth-round pick out of the University of Guelph in the 2020 CFL Draft. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, recording 47 catches for 563 yards and two touchdowns over 12 games.
Schaffer-Baker remains under contract for 2023 but is permitted to pursue opportunities south of the border via the league’s NFL window. He is scheduled to become a CFL free agent in February 2024.
The Raiders currently sit third in the AFC West with a record of 5-8, four points outside of a playoff spot. The club’s offence ranks ninths in yards per game, twelfth in passing yards per game, tenth in rushing yards per game, and eleventh in points per game.
Schaffer-Baker has also worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
