The Ottawa Redblacks signed American offensive lineman Dino Boyd to a two-year contract extension, the team announced on Thursday.

The 26-year-old Newark, New Jersey native joined the Redblacks in 2021 and appeared in three games that season before returning to the nation’s capital in 2022. The six-foot-four, 300-pounder played multiple positions along Ottawa’s offensive line during his 15 appearances for the team during the 2022 season.

Many will remember that Boyd was fined last season for a late hit on Saskatchewan Roughriders’ defensive lineman Pete Robertson that allegedly prompted the retaliation that saw former Rider Garrett Marino take a low shot at Redblacks’ quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

Marino was suspended by the league for four games following the incident and was released by the Riders in September. Masoli missed the rest of the season due to the injury.
