Bring ’em out: Riders 2023 home schedule has heavy focus on divisional matchups

The Canadian Football League has released its full 21-week schedule for the 2023 Season which will culminate with the 110th Grey Cup at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton on Sunday, November 19th.

The Roughriders will be back at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday, May 27 to host the B.C Lions in pre-season action.

After starting Week 1 on the road in Edmonton, the Roughriders will open their home schedule on Friday, June 16th against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the first of three matchups against the three-time defending West Division champions. The Riders will host the Bombers in the 58th Labour Day Classic on Sunday, September 3 and will head to IG Field for the Banjo Bowl rematch one week later on Saturday, September 9.

In addition to the Labour Day Classic, the Riders will host two other Sunday games, the first coming on August 6 when they host the Ottawa Redblacks and the second coming when the B.C. Lions make their only trip to Mosaic Stadium on August 20.

Overall, the home schedule including pre-season, contains one Thursday game, two Friday games, four Saturday games, and three Sunday games. Seven out of 10 home games will be played on a weekend, all with local start times of 5:00 p.m. or earlier.

The Riders play the Montreal Alouettes and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats just once each in 2023. The green and white will visit the Alouettes on Friday, August 11 and host the Ticats on Saturday, October 7.

The team’s bye weeks begin with one in Week 4, their second coming in Week 12 and the final one in the final week of the regular season.

The Week 8 away game against the Toronto Argonauts will be played at a neutral site, marking the second season in a row that the Riders won’t play a game in Toronto.

The Riders will play a game at TD Place in Ottawa for the first time since Week 2 of the 2019 season.
