Montreal Alouettes re-sign defensive back Nafees Lyon

The Montreal Alouettes re-signed defensive back Nafees Lyon to a one-year contract extension on Monday.

The Alouettes acquired the five-foot-10, 184-pound defender via trade with the Edmonton Elks last August.

The 26-year-old registered 52 defensive tackles, one special team tackle, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown in 14 games in 2022. Lyon also registered six defensive tackles in the team’s two playoff games.

The Charlotte, North Carolina native has recorded 80 total tackles, one sack, four interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown in 19 games played over his two CFL seasons.

The Alouettes have also re-signed Global receiver Kevin Kaya and Global running back Taku Lee.

The team has also signed four other players, American defensive linemen Akial Byer and C.J. Wright, American defensive back Dionte Ruffin and Global kicker Jose Maltos.
