Edmonton Elks sign two, including ‘Last Chance U’ star DL Ronald Ollie

The Edmonton Elks signed a pair of American players on Monday, running back Lyndemian Brooks and defensive lineman Ronald Ollie.

The six-foot-two, 310-pound Ollie spent two seasons at Nicholls State (2016, 2018) where he tallied 74 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, seven sacks and two fumble recoveries in 22 games for the Colonels. The Shubuta, Mississippi native started his collegiate career at East Mississippi Community College (2014-2015) where he was named All-State Second Team Defense in 2015.

Ollie was one of the stars of the hit Netflix reality show Last Chance U during its first season. He attended training camp with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders in 2019, before signing with the Toronto Argonauts in 2020 and attending training with the double blue in 2021.

The five-foot-eight, 170-pound Brooks played collegiately at Prairie View A&M University in 2021, totalling 90 carries for 467 yards and five touchdowns in nine games. Prior to joining the Panthers, the Austin, Texas native played five seasons at Grambling State (2016-2020), recording 866 yards on 167 carries and five touchdowns.
