The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian offensive lineman Samuel Thomassin after he finished this past year on the team’s practice roster.

Drafted in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes, Thomassin returned to school at Université Laval for a final season. He capped an outstanding collegiate career with first-team All-Canadian honours, his second time on the first unit and his third All-Canadian selection overall.

The six-foot-six, 330-pound blocker began his CFL career in 2021, dressing for two games in a backup role with Montreal. Thomassin spent the first half of the 2022 season on the Alouettes’ practice roster before being released by the team on August 29.
