Canadian quarterback Christian Veilleux will enter the NCAA transfer portal after completing his redshirt freshman season at Penn State.

“Being at Penn State has been nothing but a blessing,” he wrote on Twitter. “I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and staff for memories that I’ll cherish forever. I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”

The Ottawa native committed to Penn State as a four-star recruit after graduating from Bullis School, a preparatory school located in Potomac, Md. He previously played at Canisius High School in Buffalo, N.Y.

Veilleux dressed for two games with the Nittany Lions in 2021 and completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns along with 12 carries for 39 yards. He was granted a redshirt and returned the following season as a redshirt freshman.

The six-foot-four, 194-pound passer spent this past season as a backup to Sean Clifford, a redshirt senior who threw for 2,543 yards, 22 touchdowns, and seven interceptions to help guide the team to a 10-2 record. Veilleux saw action in only three games, completing seven-of-nine pass attempts for 44 yards.
