The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed three American players, including receiver Keith Corbin III, defensive lineman Jerry Garner Jr., and American defensive back Devin Jones.
Corbin went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft but attended rookie minicamp with the Buffalo Bills. He played at Jackson State University in 2021 and made 69 receptions for 921 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games and was named second-team All-South West Athletic Conference.
The six-foot-two, 200-pound target also played five seasons at the University of Houston from 2016 to 2020. The Texas native recorded 94 catches for 1,467 yards and 13 touchdowns over 41 games.
Garner Jr. played five season at the Mississippi Valley State University from 2017 to 2021 and recorded 163 tackles, 39.5 sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries over 46 games. The six-foot-two, 240-pound defender was named second-team All-South West Athletic Conference in 2019 after recording nine sacks during that season.
Jones played at the University of North Carolina Pembroke from 2017 to 2021 as defensive back and return specialist. He made 112 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 21 knockdowns, five interceptions, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked field goal over 42 games. He also returned 87 kickoffs for 1,965 yards and four touchdowns and 44 punts for 439 yards and one touchdown. He was twice named first-team All-Mountain East Conference as a returner.
The five-foot-ten, 180-pound defender spent several weeks this past year on the Riders’ practice roster. He previously signed with the Carolina Panthers after attending their rookie minicamp in 2022, though he was cut at the end of training camp.
