Canadian running back Andrew Harris will not be the only big name returning to the Toronto Argonauts’ lineup on Sunday, as all-star linebacker Wynton McManis is also scheduled to make his return in the East Final.

McManis, the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player, suffered an MCL injury in Week 17 against Calgary and missed the final four games of the season. However, he is making his return as scheduled in the playoffs.

The six-foot-one, 225-pound linebacker started the first 14 games for the Argos this season and recorded 88 defensive tackles, seven special teams tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. He was named an East Division all-star at linebacker for his efforts.

A product of the University of Memphis, McManis first arrived in the CFL in 2017 with the Calgary Stampeders. After two strong seasons on special teams, including leading the league in tackles in 2018, he had a breakout campaign in 2019, recording 86 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble.

McManis opted out of his CFL contract in August 2020 and later signed with the New Orleans Saints. He spent most of the 2021 season on New Orleans’ practice roster and dressed for one game in Week 2, taking eight snaps on special teams. He was released in mid-October and had a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins, before signing with Toronto.

The Argos (11-7) will play host to the Montreal Alouettes (9-9) in the East Final on Sunday, November 13 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
