The Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) has unveiled its all-star team for the 2022 season, highlighted by a whopping 11 players from the Laval Rouge et Or.
Among the notable names selected for the team were Laval quarterback Arnaud Desjardins, who led the nation with 20 touchdown passes, and receiver Kevin Mital, who finished atop U Sports with 751 yards and tied the RSEQ record with 12 touchdowns in just eight games. Other national leaders to earn a spot include McGill receiver Darius Simmons, who averaged 120 yards per appearance, and Montreal linebacker Nicky Farinaccio, who finished with 10.5 sacks.
All-stars selections were voted on by the league’s five head coaches. The conference’s individual award winners and nominees for national accolades will be announced at a press conference on Friday, November 11 on the campus of the host university of the Dunsmore Cup Final, the RSEQ title game.
The Dunsmore Cup semi-finals will both be played on Saturday, November 5 beginning at 12 p.m EDT. The Concordia University Stingers will visit the Université Laval Rouge et Or while the Université de Montréal Carabins will host the Université de Sherbrooke. Both games will be broadcasted respectively live on TVA Sports at 12 and 3 p.m.
The two winning teams will play for the Dunsmore Cup on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. EDT on the home turf of the team that finished higher in the regular season standings.
