Manitoba Bisons’ receiver AK Gassama has been named the U Sports offensive player of the week after recording five receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s 44-30 victory over the Regina Rams this past weekend.

The third-year receiver came up big when his team needed it the most, helping Manitoba punch their ticket to the postseason as the fourth seed in Canada West. Gassama’s touchdowns came from distances of 42 and 75 yards, cementing him as one of the best deep threats in all of U Sports.

The five-foot-ten, 170-pound target finished the season as the second-leading receiver in the country with 36 catches for 749 yards and six touchdowns. His average of 20.8 yards per reception ranked first among all receivers in U Sports.

Ottawa Gee-Gees’ linebacker Emmanuel Aboagye-Gyan was named the U Sports defensive player of the week after recording six total tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, and one knockdown in the first round of the OUA postseason. The fourth-year defender was a key contributor to Ottawa’s 43-40 victory over the Windsor Lancers, helping them get to the next round.

Queen’s Golden Gaels’ kicker Tyler Mullan made all four of his field goal attempts and all four of his convert attempts to help his team defeat the Toronto Varsity Blues by a score of 41-13 on Saturday. The native of North Bay, Ont. went a perfect 17-for-17 on field goals during the regular season and made all 32 of his convert attempts.
