The Calgary Stampeders have released four American players from their practice roster, including offensive lineman Leon Johnson, receiver Changa Hodge, defensive lineman Jalil Lecky, and defensive back Rashaan Gaulden.
Johnson was a member of the team during the 2019 and 2021 seasons, starting one game at left tackle this past year. He was in training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this season but was released upon the conclusion of training camp.
The six-foot-five, 310-pound blocker played 45 games over four seasons at Temple, making 10 starts at left tackle during his senior season. He signed with the Denver Broncos after going unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft and later played with the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football.
Hodge went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and signed with the Arizona Cardinals in May but was waived shortly thereafter. The six-foot-one, 205-pound target dressed for 14 games over two seasons at Virginia Tech and made three catches for 25 yards. Prior to transferring to the Hokies, Hodge played 31 games at Villanova and recorded 99 catches for 1,685 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Gaulden was selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and played 24 games over two seasons, recording 20 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass knockdown. He dressed for another three games as a member of the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders but did not register any statistics.
The six-foot, 200-pound defender played three collegiate seasons at Tennessee and made 140 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, one interception, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 10 pass knockdowns over 36 games.
Lecky recorded 21 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks over 28 games at San Diego State. He previously played for the College of San Mateo where he recorded 21 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in his second season with the team.
The Stampeders (11-6) will finish their season on Saturday by hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-11) at McMahon Stadium in a game that is meaningless in the standings. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. EDT.
