The Calgary Stampeders may have inked explosive, young receiver Malik Henry to a three-year contract extension last week, but they won’t have him in the lineup this week against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Henry has not participated in practice this week due to an ankle injury and has been placed on the one-game injured. It marks the third game this season that the receiver has been unable to dress for.

The six-foot, 176-pound pass catcher has had a breakout second CFL season, notching 62 receptions for 1,023 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games. He currently ranks sixth in the league in receiving yardage, fifth in receiving touchdowns, and first in yards after the catch with 422.

The West Georgia product played nine games in his first season north of the border in 2021, recording 11 receptions for 124 yards and two touchdowns. He was also the team’s primary return specialist during that time, returning 21 kickoffs for 513 yards and 38 punts for 435 yards.

Henry will be replaced in the lineup by Shawn Bane Jr., who has played six games this season and caught 13 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown.

The Stampeders (10-5) will host the Ticats (5-10) at 9:45 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 14.
