Edouard Wanadi has been named the U Sports offensive player of the week after a dominant performance in the Western Mustangs’ 56-21 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues.

The second-year running back carried the ball 13 times for 213 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, averaging a remarkable 16.4 yards per carry. His longest run of the day came early in the third quarter when he scampered 64 yards to the end zone.

Wanadi rushed for 238 yards in last year’s 61-6 win over St. FX in the Mitchell Bowl, which remains his single-game career high.

The Mustangs have been atop the U Sports football top ten rankings all season and are now two wins away from finishing a perfect 8-0 on the season.

Wilfrid Laurier defensive back Shomari Hutchinson was named the U Sports defensive player of the week after recording 4.5 tackles and two interceptions in his team’s 43-22 win over the Waterloo Warriors.

The Toronto native made both interceptions in the final three minutes of the game, helping secure the victory. The Golden Hawks have now won back-to-back games to improve to 4-2 on the year, sitting in fourth place in the OUA standings.

Concordia return specialist Santino Sparagna was named the U Sports special teams player of the week after recording 156 return yards in his team’s 31-13 loss to the Montreal Carabins.

The former Champlain-St. Lambert Cavalier recorded a game-high 263 all-purpose yards in the contest and now leads the RSEQ with 741 all-purpose yards this season.
