The St. FX X-Men have moved back into the top six spots of the U Sports football top ten rankings after defeating the Bishop’s Gaiters by a score of 30-10.

Malcolm Bussey had his third 100-yard game of the season for St. FX in the win, carrying the ball 18 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns. The second-year running back ranks seventh in the country with an average of 106.0 rushing yards per game and tied for fifth with five rushing touchdowns. Now 5-0, the X-Men will likely need only one more win to clinch the top spot in the AUS.

It was a quiet week in U Sports as the Queen’s Golden Gaels (5-1), Ottawa Gee-Gees (5-1), Carleton Ravens (3-3), McGill Redbirds (0-5), and Saint Mary’s Huskies (2-2) were on byes, as was all of Canada West.

Western remained atop the rankings where they’ve been all season after beating the Toronto Varsity Blues by a score of 56-21. Second-year running back Edouard Wanadi had a signature performance for the Mustangs in the victory, rushing 13 times for 213 yards and four touchdowns. His partner in the backfield, third-year Keon Edwards, was also extremely productive with 16 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Ottawa and Regina both moved down one spot to correspond with St. FX’s rise to No. 6.
