Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign former Edmonton Elks’ defensive back Jordan Hoover, one other

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed former Edmonton Elks’ defensive back Jordan Hoover.

The 29-year-old appeared in 13 games with the Elks in 2021 and made 46 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, and one interception.

The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was a fourth-round pick out of the University of Waterloo in the 2017 CFL Draft. The former Ontario University Athletics all-star has 111 career defensive tackles, 23 special teams tackles, and three interceptions over 66 CFL regular season games.

Hoover was released by the Elks in May and quickly signed with the B.C. Lions, though he was released after failing his physical.

The Ticats also signed American defensive back Will Sunderland. He joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in January 2022 but was released by the team in June.

The 26-year-old signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and the Seattle Seahawks, playing in three preseason games in 2021.

The Oklahoma native played four seasons of collegiate ball at Oklahoma (2015-2016) and Troy (2018-2019). He played a total of 29 collegiate games and made 77 tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, six interceptions, and five knockdowns. He was named First Team All-Sun Belt as a senior.
