The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have traded defensive back Alden Darby to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for defensive end Cedric Wilcots II.

Winnipeg acquired Darby via trade last season from the Toronto Argonauts to take over at strong-side linebacker following a season-ending injury to Mercy Maston. He recorded 34 tackles over eleven regular season games and made eight tackles, one sack, and one interception in the playoffs to help the Blue Bombers win the Grey Cup.

Darby signed with the Ticats this past off-season as a free agent and has dressed for ten games with the team, making 23 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, one sack, and one interception. He was a healthy scratch for three of the team’s games.

Wilcots II is a CFL rookie who has played 10 games this season with three starts, recording two defensive tackles. The six-foot-three, 249-pound edge rusher made 94 total tackles, 18.5 sacks, four knockdowns, and four forced fumbles over 35 games at New Mexico State University.

The Blue Bombers (13-2) have clinched a home playoff game and will host the Edmonton Elks (4-11) on Saturday at IG Field. The Ticats (4-10) host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-9) on Friday in a game that could boost their playoff hopes with a win.
