The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without one of their star pass rushers when they take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday, as defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat has been placed on the one-game injured list due to a lingering hip issue.

Jeffcoat did not practice all week as a result of the ailment, which has consistently kept him on the team’s injury report. He missed two games earlier this season as a result of the injury.

In 11 appearances in 2022, Jeffcoat has recorded 18 tackles, three sacks, one interception, and a forced fumble. He was named a CFL all-star for the first time in 2021 when he made 26 defensive tackles, nine sacks, and four forced fumbles over 12 games.

Rookie Cedric Wilcots II will replace Jeffcoat in the starting lineup. The New Mexico State product has played in nine games this season, recording two tackles.

The Bombers (12-2) are scheduled to kickoff against the Riders (6-8) at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, September 30.
