The Toronto Argonauts have finally signed Canadian offensive lineman Ryan Hunter, their first-round pick from the 2018 CFL Draft.
The 27-year-old signed with the Kansas City Chiefs following a five-year college career at Bowling Green where he was named Academic All-MAC four times and MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete three times.
The six-foot-three, 315-pound blocker spent most of his two seasons with the Chiefs on the practice roster, dressing for three games. He won Super Bowl LIV as a member of the team as Kansas City beat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 31-20.
Hunter signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in October 2020 and spent two years on their practice roster. He was released by the team at the conclusion of training camp this year.
The native of North Bay, Ont. was the ninth overall selection in the 2018 CFL Draft and was the seventh offensive lineman off the board, though he would have been selected sooner had he not been under contract with the NFL.
