The Edmonton Elks have released former NFL defensive lineman Jachai Polite.

The 25-year-old signed with the team on August 10 just one week after he was released by the Toronto Argonauts. He dressed for three games in a backup role with the Elks and recorded one defensive tackle.

The Florida native was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New York Jets but was waived later that summer. He also spent time on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice roster before joining the Los Angeles Rams and playing in 11 games in 2020, making four tackles and one sack.

The six-foot-three, 245-pound defender played three seasons (2016-18) at the University of Florida, recording 78 tackles, 15 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and four pass knockdowns.

Polite ran a 4.84-second forty-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine and leaped 32 inches in the vertical jump. He later ran a 5.04-second forty-yard dash at his pro day along with a 7.59-second three-cone drill and 102-inch broad jump.
