The Calgary Stampeders are getting some much-needed firepower back into the team’s starting lineup as running back Ka’Deem Carey and receiver Malik Henry return from injury.

Carey has rushed 72 times for 471 yards and five touchdowns through six games this season along with 13 receptions for 114 yards. He has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury but remains the league’s fourth-leading rusher despite the missed time.

The former fourth-round NFL draft pick had a breakout season in 2021 when he rushed 164 times for 869 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named a West Division all-star, though he was edged out for the same honour at the league level by Montreal Alouettes’ running back William Stanback.

Henry made 27 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns over the club’s first seven games of the season. He remains Calgary’s leading receiver despite missing the past two contests due to a quad injury.

The 25-year-old dressed for nine games as a rookie in 2021 and contributed primarily as a return specialist, recording 967 return yards.

Calgary (6-3) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-1) on Thursday, Aug. 25 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT. As previously reported, Jake Maier will make his first start of the season over a healthy Bo Levi Mitchell.
