The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have ruled out receivers Greg Ellingson (hip) and Janarion Grant (groin) for Thursday’s game against the Calgary Stampeders.
Ellingson pulled up lame in practice on Monday after sitting out the previous day and has now been placed on the six-game injured list. He missed three consecutive games earlier this season due to a hip injury.
The 33-year-old was the CFL’s leader in receptions and receiving yards when he first suffered the hip injury prior to Winnipeg’s game against the Edmonton Elks in Week 7. He returned to the lineup against the Montreal Alouettes just prior to their bye week and made three catches for 54 yards.
Grant has dressed for all 10 games this season and recorded 1,027 return yards, two return touchdowns, seven carries for 71 yards, and five receptions for 32 yards. He also started three games at slotback while Ellingson was out earlier in the year.
Rookie running back Greg McCrae will start at slotback for the Blue Bombers, while Tavaris Harrison will dress in a backup role.
The Blue Bombers (9-1) will host the Stampeders (6-3) on Thursday at IG Field with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT.
