The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed former Montreal Alouettes’ defensive back Rodney Randle Jr. as well as American receiver Jaylon Redd.

Randle Jr. played 19 games over two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes (2021-2022) but was released by the team on August 18. During his time in Montreal, he registered 44 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, and two interceptions. The six-foot, 170-pound native of Beaumont, Texas also spent time in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers (2019) and in the XFL with the Tampa Bay Vipers (2020).

The 25-year-old played collegiately at Lamar University for four seasons (2015-2018) where he appeared in 41 games with 29 starts and registered 170 tackles, one sack, and five interceptions.

Redd attended mini-camp with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022. The five-foot-nine, 170-pound native of Carson, Calif. played 52 games over five seasons (2017-2021) at the University of Oregon, registering 131 receptions for 1,435 yards with 16 receiving touchdowns. He also added 24 carries for 179 yards with five rushing touchdowns.

The Ticats also released Canadian receiver Tyler Turner.

Turner was in training camp with the Tiger-Cats this year after previously being a member of the B.C. Lions in 2020. The University of Alberta product was brought back earlier this month after being released by the team following training camp.

The six-foot-two, 200-pound pass catcher suited up for two games with Hamilton in 2022, recording zero statistics.
