The Calgary Stampeders have signed American running back Aca’Cedric Ware and American linebacker Perry Young.
Ware was on Calgary’s practice roster for a portion of the 2021 season and had spent the first half of the 2022 season on the team’s retired list. The six-foot, 202-pound ball carrier has yet to dress for a CFL regular season game.
The native of DeSoto, Texas signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019 as an undrafted free agent. He also spent time on the practice roster with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.
Ware played four seasons at USC and recorded 264 carries for 1,505 yards and 10 touchdowns in 46 games. He also had 19 receptions for 126 yards. As a senior in 2018, Ware started 10 games for the Trojans and his 6.6 yards-per-carry was second-best in the Pac-12 conference.
Young was in training camp with the Stampeders but was released following its conclusion.
The five-foot-ten, 217-pound defender played 46 games over four seasons at the University of Cincinnati. He was one of the Bearcats’ team captains as a senior and earned first-team all-American Athletic Conference honours in 2018 and 2019.
The native of Homewood, Ala. recorded 269 career tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, 11 knockdowns, and two interceptions.
