Week 10 of the CFL regular season is set to get underway with a full slate of games, three of which feature key divisional matchups with major playoff implications.

Brendan McGuire has taken a two-game lead atop our picks standings with a record of 27-8 straight-up, while a rough week for Santino Filoso against-the-spread has moved him into a tie with Josh Smith at 22-13.

Thursday, August 11: Montreal Alouettes at Winnipeg Blue Bombers – 8:30 p.m. EDT

The Als were able to keep last week’s game against the Blue Bombers tied heading into the fourth quarter before a monumental collapse in all three phases of the game. Winnipeg enters this week on a 12-game home winning streak and will become the first team in CFL history to record 400 home victories with a win. It’s possible that Montreal will find a way to steal this one but the odds certainly don’t feel in their favour.

DUNK: Blue Bombers beat ‘em up at home.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

HODGE: Winnipeg is going into the bye 10-0 and they’ll cover the large spread.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

ABBOTT: Winnipeg is better rested this week and has Greg Ellingson back in the lineup. Montreal missed their chance at an upset.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: ALS.

BALLANTINE: Every time I’ve hedged against a large spread I’ve been wrong.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

FILOSO: I’m not picking against Winnipeg until they give me a reason to, but that’s a huge spread.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: ALS.

GASSON: My gut was wrong last week. C’est la vie.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

HUDSON: Are you really picking against Winnipeg?

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

LUDWIG: Last week only stayed close for so long because of turnovers.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

MCGUIRE: Montreal can’t beat Winnipeg at home so what makes anyone think they’ll be able to do it on the road? The Als will tease you, though.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: ALS.

SMITH: The Als did the best they could against this team a week ago and still lost by more than this large spread.

Straight-up: BOMBERS. Against the spread: BOMBERS.

TOTALS STRAIGHT-UP: Winnipeg 10, Montreal 0

TOTALS AGAINST THE SPREAD: Winnipeg 7, Montreal 3

Friday, August 12: Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats – 7:30 p.m. EDT

Matthew Shiltz looks to make his first start with Hamilton while Dane Evans nurses a shoulder injury. The Ticats should thrive playing in the friendly confines of Tim Hortons Field this week, which is good news for them considering they can’t afford to fall much further behind Toronto in the East Division standings.

DUNK: Argoooooooos go back-to-back.

Straight-up: ARGOS. Against the spread: ARGOS.

HODGE: It looks like Matthew Shiltz finally has his chance. Can he get it done?

Straight-up: TICATS. Against the spread: TICATS.

ABBOTT: The Argos don’t ever make sense, so obviously the Ticats will win this rematch with Matthew Shiltz at quarterback.

Straight-up: TICATS. Against the spread: TICATS.

BALLANTINE: Toronto is incredibly unpredictable but the Ticats just aren’t as good as they should be.

Straight-up: ARGOS. Against the spread: ARGOS.

FILOSO: The Ticats are the worst team in the East not named the Redblacks.

Straight-up: ARGOS. Against the spread: ARGOS.

GASSON: Who the hell knows anymore?

Straight-up: ARGOS. Against the spread: ARGOS.

HUDSON: Hamilton simply can’t get it done in the fourth quarter.

Straight-up: ARGOS. Against the spread: ARGOS.

LUDWIG: One day Hamilton won’t blow a fourth-quarter lead.

Straight-up: TICATS. Against the spread: TICATS.

MCGUIRE: McBeth is proving to be better than Dave Evans but is he better than Matthew Shiltz?

Straight-up: TICATS. Against the spread: TICATS.

SMITH: I honestly do not know so I am literally flipping a coin.

Straight-up: ARGOS. Against the spread: ARGOS.

TOTALS STRAIGHT-UP: Toronto 6, Hamilton 4

TOTALS AGAINST THE SPREAD: Toronto 6, Hamilton 4

Saturday, August 13: B.C. Lions at Calgary Stampeders – 7:00 p.m. EDT

Circle your calendars, folks — we’ve got the game of the week right here. Nathan Rourke has drawn national headlines for his record-breaking play this season, while Bo Levi Mitchell has quietly gone about his business in Cowtown. Both teams are under pressure to keep pace with Winnipeg in the ultra-tough West Division, so may the best team win. This one should be a doozy.

DUNK: Nathan Rourke is the best QB in this game and the league.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

HODGE: Nathan Rourke is ready to outduel Bo Levi Mitchell at McMahon.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

ABBOTT: This is the Lions’ makeup test, but the Stamps aren’t the Bombers and B.C. won’t make the same mistakes they did against Winnipeg.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

BALLANTINE: Rourke has beat up the bad teams and lost to the elite. This is a chance for Calgary to find out which category they are in.

Straight-up: STAMPS. Against the spread: STAMPS.

FILOSO: Betting against Calgary at home is a terrible idea, but Rourke is playing lights out.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

GASSON: I don’t blame anyone who’s written off Calgary but I feel like they’ll get up for this one.

Straight-up: STAMPS. Against the spread: STAMPS.

HUDSON: Calgary’s weaknesses are getting worse and they match up with B.C.’s strengths.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

LUDWIG: The Lions are fun and good. I wish I could wager double in our picks.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

MCGUIRE: Never thought I’d ever say this but Calgary has no one at quarterback who compares to who B.C. has.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

SMITH: I’m not betting against Nathan Rourke.

Straight-up: LIONS. Against the spread: LIONS.

TOTALS STRAIGHT-UP: B.C. 8, Calgary 2

TOTALS AGAINST THE SPREAD: B.C. 8, Calgary 2

Saturday, August 13: Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Elks – 10:00 p.m. EDT

The Riders have fallen down the West Division standings over the past month, entering last week’s bye on a three-game losing streak. Edmonton is coming off another throttling in B.C., which brought an abrupt end to the optimism that surrounded the team on their bye in Week 8. The Elks can’t afford another loss here, especially given that they already trail the season series with Saskatchewan 1-0.

DUNK: Riders are rested and need the win to stay in control of the crossover spot.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

HODGE: A soft opponent is exactly what Saskatchewan needs right now.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

ABBOTT: May the best team crossover.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: ELKS.

BALLANTINE: The Riders win this game and give all sorts of false confidence to their fan base.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

FILOSO: The Elks seem to have flatlined, whereas Saskatchewan is fresh off the bye.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

GASSON: If the Riders can’t right the ship post-bye against Edmonton…

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

HUDSON: When Jones decides to try and compete, then I’ll consider picking the Elks.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

LUDWIG: We’ve all seen Edmonton play, yes?

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.

MCGUIRE: Confidence feels at an all-time low for both sides, at least for this season. Call this a pick’em in the toilet bowl.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: ELKS.

SMITH: I don’t care what some people say, Saskatchewan is miles ahead of Edmonton.

Straight-up: RIDERS. Against the spread: RIDERS.
