Alouettes sign veteran offensive tackle Jamar McGloster, release one

The Montreal Alouettes have signed veteran offensive lineman Jamar McGloster to the practice roster.

The 27-year-old blocker was with the B.C. Lions in training camp but was released at its conclusion. He suited up for five games with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021 and previously spent part of the 2019 season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The six-foot-seven, 308-pounder has previously had NFL practice roster stints with the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Chargers.

The New Jersey native suited up in 30 games at Syracuse University from 2014-2017, starting 24 of those at right tackle. He made the Atlantic Coast Conference honour roll as a freshman and helped the Orange finish third in the conference in total offence (456.3 yards per game) in 2017.

Montreal also added American defensive back Kenneth Durden to the practice roster. The Youngstown State product spent five years in the NFL as a member of the Oakland Raiders (2016-17), Tennessee Titans (2017, 2018-20), and New York Giants (2018). He dressed for five career games.

The Alouettes released American defensive back Herb Waters following a month-long stint on the practice roster.

He signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in December 2020 but was released prior to the 2021 season. He then went on the join the Edmonton Elks and dressed for one game, though he did not register any statistics.

Waters spent parts of three seasons in the NFL as a member of the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers (2016-18) prior to a stint in the XFL.
