The Calgary Stampeders will have former all-star cornerback Tre Roberson back in the lineup when they visit the Edmonton Elks on Thursday night.

Roberson missed the club’s most recent game with a shoulder injury. He started Calgary’s first two games of the regular season at boundary cornerback, recording seven tackles and one forced fumble.

The Illinois State product broke into the league in 2018 when he recorded 54 tackles, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles to help the Stampeders win the Grey Cup. He was named a CFL all-star the following season after making 41 tackles and seven interceptions and went on to sign a contract with the Chicago Bears in January 2020.

Roberson’s first NFL season was hampered by a broken foot and he was waived by the Bears with a non-football injury designation. He returned to the team in 2021 but was released shortly after training camp.

The 29-year-old signed back with the Stampeders in October 2021 and dressed for three regular season games, recording nine tackles and one forced fumble. He also started the West Semi-Final but did not register a statistic in a 33-30 overtime loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
