The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released Canadian offensive lineman Andrew Pickett after just two weeks with the team.
The native of Kitchener, Ont. was selected by the Ottawa Redblacks in the third round of the 2018 CFL Draft out of the University of Guelph. He missed his first two professional seasons due to injury and the third due to the cancellation of the CFL season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pickett dressed for 13 games in 2021 and made five starts — four at centre and one at right guard. The six-foot-three, 322-pound blocker was released by Ottawa in late May.
Pickett was signed by Hamilton on June 14 following a string of injuries along the offensive line. He dressed for the team’s Week 3 contest with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the team’s sixth lineman but was reverted back to the practice squad following the activation of Coulter Woodmansey from the six-game injured list this week.
