The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American offensive linemen Tyler Witt and Ryan Nelson to the practice roster.
The six-foot-two, 305-pound Witt joins the Blue Bombers after one season with the Purdue University Boilermakers and the previous three with the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers. He made an immediate impact at Western Kentucky playing in each game as a freshman and started six. Witt would go on to start in all 25 games over the next two seasons.
He transferred to Purdue to play out his final year of eligibility. Witt finished his NCAA career as a top offensive lineman for the Boilermakers and was named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List.
The six-foot-six, 331-pound Nelson joins the Bombers after a four-year NCAA career with the University of Virginia Cavaliers. He started 49 straight games beginning in 2018 and helped solidify the Cavs offensive line. In 2020, Nelson was a leader on an offensive line that was ranked first in the Atlantic Coast Conference in protection. He was named a 2021 fourth-team All-ACC o-lineman.
