The B.C. Lions have officially placed star receiver Bryan Burnham on the team’s six-game injured list, the club revealed on Monday.

Burnham left B.C.’s blowout win over the Toronto Argonauts in Week 3 shortly before halftime after sustaining a massive hit over the middle from defensive back Shaquille Richardson. He was later taken to a hospital for X-rays, which showed fractured ribs. He tweeted after the game:

Great team win @BCLions. I was pissed to leave my guys out there but they stepped up in a big way! I’ll be ok and can’t wait to get back to work with my brothers.

The six-foot-two, 205-pound receiver hauled in three receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown prior to his injury. He has made six catches for 66 yards and one touchdown in through two games this season.

Burnham has been a CFL all-star in each of his last four seasons, eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark every year from 2016 to 2019 and racking up 965 yards in the shortened 14-game 2021 campaign.

The 32-year-old sits fifth on B.C.’s all-time receiving list with 6,682 receiving yards to go along with 441 receptions and 39 touchdowns.
