The Toronto Argonauts have released American receiver Earnest Edwards.

Edwards signed with the double blue in January and spent training camp with the team but did not suit up in a game for the Argos.

The five-foot-10, 175-pound pass-catcher played seven games for the Edmonton Elks in 2021, hauling in 15 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown while returning 18 punts for 96 yards, 12 kick-offs for 203 yards and two missed field goals for 26 yards.

The Rochester, N.Y. native was signed as an undrafted NFL free agent by the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 but he released at the end of training camp.

The 24-year-old played four seasons at the University of Maine (2016-2019) where he compiled 125 receptions for 2,370 yards and 23 touchdowns in 40 career games. Edwards also amassed over 2,000 kick return yards and four touchdowns in his NCAA career with the Black Bears.
