The Edmonton Elks have added American defensive tackle Jake Ceresna to the six-game injured list, after originally listing him as the starter on the team’s Week 2 depth chart.
Ceresna practiced all week and was not listed on the team’s injury report, speaking to the media on Friday. It is unclear what injury occurred to make him unavailable for Saturday’s game.
Ceresna was originally acquired by Edmonton in a trade with the Ottawa Redblacks following the 2017 season. In 2018, he made 32 tackles, eight sacks, and one forced fumble, earning him a contract with the New York Giants.
Ceresna rejoined the team in November of 2019 but did not see game action. He played in 13 games in 2021, making 34 tackles and five sacks.
Ceresna was credited with one tackle in the Elks’ season-opening loss to B.C. Canadian Ese Mrabure will take over Ceresna’s starting spot and rookie Pharoah McKever will replace him on the game-day roster.
