The Buffalo Bills have signed former CFL offensive lineman Greg Van Roten, according to Ari Meirov of Pro Football Focus.
The 32-year-old spent the past two seasons with the New York Jets, who released him in May to free up $3.5 million worth of cap space for the 2022 NFL season. He played in all 17 games for the club last season, making 10 starts at guard.
Van Roten started his career with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and played 10 games over two seasons. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014 but was released at the end of training camp.
The six-foot-three, 308-pound blocker signed with the Toronto Argonauts ahead of the 2015 season and appeared in 32 games over two CFL seasons at tackle, guard and centre.
He signed with Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2016 season, but was released before training camp and eventually landed with the Carolina Panthers.
Van Roten played 10 games in his first year with the Panthers in 2017 and earned a starting job the following season. He was the only player to take every offensive snap for the club in 2018, securing the left guard position. He made 11 starts in 2019 before suffering a dislocated toe.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Van Roten was a two-time All-Ivy League selection as a member of the Quakers before going unselected in the 2012 NFL Draft.
