The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive lineman Claudell Louis.
Louis spent time two seasons with the B.C. Lions as a player (2018-19) and served as a defensive assistant with the club in 2021. The native of Haiti recorded 44 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble with the Leos and was the club’s finalist for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie award in 2018.
The six-foot-five, 293-pound defender played collegiately for Fresno State (2014-15) where he recorded 57 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and was an honourable mention All-Mountain West selection in 2015.
Louis signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2016 and later was signed by the Minnesota Vikings.
Elks training camp continues Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium.
