The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released six players following their 30-20 preseason loss to the Edmonton Elks on Friday night.
Those who were cut include American receiver Keyion Dixon, Canadian defensive lineman Alfred Green, American defensive lineman Will Evans, American defensive back Marlon Character, American defensive back Mike Hampton, and American defensive back Evan Holm.
CFL teams are required to trim their rosters to 75 players by 11:59 p.m. EST on the day following their first preseason game.
Winnipeg also added two new players in American offensive lineman Cameron Durley and Canadian defensive end Rossini Sandjong.
Durley attended Tennessee State where his best season came in 2019, helping an offensive unit that averaged 400.1 yards per game, ranking third in the conference. The six-foot-six, 315-pound blocker has primarily played right tackle.
Sandjong had an immediate impact at York University, being named to the OUA all-rookie team and registering five sacks. The six-foot-two, 235-pound defender was an OUA second-team all-star and OUA first-team all-star in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The native of Longueuil, Que. was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 CFL Draft by Edmonton and appeared in five games last season.
The Blue Bombers won’t be waiting long for their second and final preseason game as they are slated to visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Tuesday evening.
