The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released 2022 CFL Draft pick defensive lineman Jeremy Kapelanski and signed American defensive lineman Will Evans and American defensive back Evan Holm.
Kapelanski was the team’s sixth-round pick, 56th overall, in the 2022 CFL Draft. The six-foot-three, 280-pound lineman registered 25 total tackles and three sacks in seven games for the University of Guelph last year. The Saint Jerome, Quebec native was injured during rookie camp last week.
Evans played five seasons at Ohio University where he developed into a top pass rusher for the Bobcats. After redshirting his freshman season, the Augusta, Georgia native would go on to start 40 games and was named a team captain in 2019. The six-foot-two, 242-pound Evans tallied 114 tackles, 11 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries during his career with the Bobcats.
Holm played 49 games, starting 34, as a member of the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks. The Edina, Minnesota native amassed 158 total tackles, one sack, six interceptions, 33 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his time at North Dakota.
The five-foot-11, 180-pound Holm also contributed on special teams, returning 42 kickoffs for 959 yards and one touchdown, and earned All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) second team honours and MVFC All-Academic team honourable mention in 2020.
