Canadian defensive lineman Brent Urban has signed a one-year contract to return to the Baltimore Ravens, according to his wife Kate.

The 31-year-old was originally drafted by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft after an outstanding career at the University of Virginia. He spent five seasons with the team, playing in 41 games and making 19 starts.

The six-foot-seven, 295-pounder spent the next two years with the Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears. His best season came in 2020 when he started 8 games for Chicago and racked up 36 tackles and 2.5 sacks, both career highs.

Urban played last season for the Dallas Cowboys but was limited to just six games. He recorded three tackles and one pass deflection in that span.

The Mississauga native has appeared in 76 games in his NFL career, making 31 starts and recording 107 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks.

Urban was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round of the 2013 CFL Draft as a redshirt junior out of Virginia, but has since earned more than $8 million in the NFL.
