The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders preseason game has a new date and time.
The game was originally set to take place on Monday, May 23 but has been moved to Tuesday, May 31 at 8:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. local time).
The matchup at Mosaic Stadium was originally scheduled to kick-off the exhibition schedule, but was moved after seven CFL teams entered a work stoppage on Sunday following the expiration of the previous collective bargaining agreement. The two remaining teams — Calgary and Edmonton — were scheduled to join on Thursday afternoon in accordance with Alberta labour laws.
3DownNation reported on Wednesday that the league and the players’ union were verging on a new seven-year CBA. The CFL posted a tweet later in the evening confirming that the two parties had “reached a tentative agreement, subject to ratification.”
The CFLPA distributed an internal memo after reaching a seven-year agreement with the league indicating that they will conduct meetings with each team to explain the bargaining package and answer questions.
Players across the league are expected to practice Thursday. It was agreed the Saskatchewan-Winnipeg pre-season game would be rescheduled to allow both teams more time to prepare.
