The ring was locked in the glove compartment of his vehicle when it was burglarized in south Edmonton on the night of April 26. Steele explained on Twitter that the ring was only in the vehicle because his family was in the process of moving into a new home.
Steele played eight seasons in the CFL league, four with Edmonton, and won a CFL championship with the Elks in 2015. He made two tackles in a 26-20 win over the Ottawa Redblacks at IG Field in Winnipeg — his hometown — in front of 36,634 fans.
The University of Manitoba product suited up in 123 games and made 145 tackles, 18 sacks, three special teams tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble. The six-foot-two, 280-pound defensive lineman was selected in the third round of the 2010 CFL Draft.
