Redblacks sign seven 2022 CFL Draft picks, including second overall pick OL Zack Pelehos

The Ottawa Redblacks have signed seven members of their 2022 CFL Draft class, including first-round pick Zack Pelehos.

Pelehos, selected second overall out of the University of Ottawa, earned first-team Ontario University Athletic conference all-star honours and was awarded Gee-Gees Team MVP in 2021.

Laval offensive lineman Cyrille Hogan-Saindon suited up for his first full season with the Rouge et Or in 2021, earning a first-team Quebec conference all-star nod. At the CFL Combine, Hogan-Saindon hit 26 reps on the bench press, the most among offensive linemen. He was selected in the second round with the eleventh overall pick.

Receiver Keaton Bruggeling played six games for the Carleton Ravens in 2021, racking up 17 receptions for 225 yards and three touchdowns. At the CFL Combine, he ran a 4.55-second 40-yard dash with a 37.5-inch vertical jump, 7.12-second three-cone drill, and 4.33-second shuttle.

Fourth-round pick Daniel Valente recorded 17 tackles in five games playing defensive back with the Western Mustangs in 2021 en route to a Vanier Cup victory. He was selected in the fourth round with the 31st overall pick.

Linebacker Subomi Oyesoro of the Calgary Dinos recorded 33 tackles in 2021 and was the club’s fifth-round pick.

St. Francis Xavier tight end Connor Ross played a total of 30 games with the X-Men, hauling in 24 receptions for 207 yards.

Laval Rouge et Or running back Luca Perrier rushed for 284 yards on 29 attempts and scored three touchdowns in 2021.

The team did not sign territorial pick Jesse Luketa, who was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2022 NFL Draft, or fifth-round pick Woodly Appolon.

The team did sign a pair of players from the 2022 Global Draft, Laval defensive back Edris Jean-Alphonse and Albany State kicker Gabriel Ballinas.
