The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made a pair of moves, signing University of British Columbia offensive lineman Brandon Sanford and releasing American defensive back Robert Priester.
Sanford, the six-foot-five, 300-pound Salmon Arm, B.C. native, was a member of the Thunderbirds from 2016-2021 and attended the 2022 CFL West Regional Combine earlier this year.
At the regional combine, Sanford put up 19 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, tied for second-best amongst attendees; ran a 5.69-second 40-yard dash; recorded a 30-inch vertical; eight-foot, five-and-a-half-inch broad jump; 8.27-second three-cone; and a 4.99-second shuttle time. He was not selected to attend the national CFL Combine.
Priester was a member of the Bombers back in 2018, playing in two games recording seven defensive tackles for the blue and gold. He was in training camp with the Edmonton Elks in 2019.
The five-foot-nine, 180-pound native of Tampa Bay, Florida also played for his hometown Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL in 2020. In five games with the Vipers before the season was shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Priester recorded nine total tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, one interception and three pass breakups.
The 28-year-old spent three seasons with the University of Wyoming, making 103 total tackles and three forced fumbles in 35 games played for the Cowboys. In 2017, Priester recorded a career-high in tackles for loss and forced fumbles.
