The Edmonton Elks and Hamilton Tiger-Cats have made a trade on the eve of the 2022 CFL Draft.

Edmonton will receive Hamilton’s first-round draft pick (eighth overall) and third-round draft pick (28th overall) in Tuesday’s draft and the ninth overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft.

Hamilton will receive Canadian offensive lineman Kyle Saxelid, Canadian linebacker Grant McDonald, and the second overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft.

Edmonton now holds two first-round selections in tomorrow’s national draft at first and eighth overall.

Saxelid heads to Hamilton after suiting up in 29 games over two seasons in Edmonton, where the UNLV product played multiple positions along the offensive line for the Green and Gold.

McDonald, a University of Calgary product, played mostly special teams in his rookie season in 2021, recording 16 tackles in 14 regular season games. Both players were originally drafted by Edmonton with Saxelid being selected in 2019 and McDonald in 2021.
